To the agri-business, farming, and trade school community of Whatcom County,

Have you heard the news? On April 26, 2024, Whatcom Family is partnering with CHS Northwest to host the first annual Whatcom Agriculture Career Fair at Lynden High School!

You may be surprised to hear that nearly 40% of students in Whatcom County immediately seek work after graduation, as opposed to going on to higher education like 2 year or 4 year schools. Many students may be interested in finding work locally, but don’t necessarily have the connections. That is where is the Career Fair would play a crucial role.

The first Annual Whatcom Agriculture Career Fair is to be structured similar to a college fair, where students interested in agriculture careers or even summer work can attend to network with agri-businesses and schools from across the county.

We want you: local farms, local agri-businesses, and agriculture-based college programs to attend this career fair. Your attendance at this event is an opportunity to encourage local high school students to get active in agricultural careers. Even if your business doesn’t have career openings in the near future, this is a place to network with the next generation of our community. For 2 or 4 year trade or technical programs, this is both a chance for recruiting and an investment in the next generation of leaders. Furthermore, investing in this event is also an investment in the future of agriculture in Whatcom County.

If you are interested in hearing more about this event or reserving your spot at the career fair, we encourage you to learn more on our Career Fair Page or contact our Education Coordinator at ellies@whatcomfamilyfarmers.org

We are also looking for financial support. If your business would like to sponsor this event, we would be proud to recognize you in multiple ways before and after the career fair event. See sponsorship opportunities and all the incentives on our Career Fair Page.
