The American Blueberry Growers Alliance is in support of the U.S. Trade Representatives request for a safeguard investigation regarding blueberry imports.

According to a press release from the alliance, the organization “expects that the investigation will result in a remedy that allows the domestic industry to recover from the harmful effects of surging blueberry imports.”

Blueberry farmers have lost sales due to an increase in imports. The investigation should show the harm blueberry growers face from the imports.

Jerome Crosby, Chair of the American Blueberry Growers Alliance, says the flood of foreign imports has caused significant damage.

“At a time when domestic food security is especially critical, this action is essential to preserve American farms, our families’ way of life, and our communities, and we look forward to working with the ITC in conducting its investigation,” Crosby said.
